In my work I strive to capture and create multimedia images so the viewer can experience moments of peace, wonder or mystery.
From the quiet sense of stillness and peace found in a mountain forest to the high energy of wild raging storms to the subtle nuances of light, color and shape, nature is an endless inspiration to me. I treasure time being among these elements, listening, looking, feeling, and waiting for unique artistic moments to present themselves.
The right weather conditions, the visual effect of color and especially the type of light are some of the elements that I wait for and love to observe and portray through photography and multimedia layering. I often find hours slipping away lost in the fascination of watching how these and other elements combine to create moments of natural wonder.
I would rather be out in the field and nature than anywhere else so I have developed the use of a variety of unique techniques along with the use of various types of filters, lenses, and exposures that allow me to capture what I see, sense and feel. Then in the finishing process I bring out further artistic qualities of the photographic work. I do this through my own printing process and various multimedia techniques. I use specialized inks and dyes, and in some works I complete the work with details that are hand drawn and painted and layered. Many times I revisit the area and complete these works plein air. I use a variety of high quality fine art paper that allows me to highlight specific artistic qualities within the photograph. All my work is created on high quality Fine Art archival paper and used with inks, dyes and paints that are archival. My work is in Galleries in New England and in private collections both in the United States and Overseas.
